Integration Methods
Privacy Pillar's Data Discovery mdoule supports two primary integration models:
I. SaaS-Based Integration
The module integrates with cloud platforms and SaaS applications using secure connectors. These connectors authenticate using access credentials or tokens and enable controlled scanning of externally hosted data sources.
II. On-Premises Deployment
For restricted or firewall-protected environments, the module can be deployed within the organisation’s internal infrastructure. This enables local scanning of internal systems without external data movement.
Steps to Integrate a Database with Privacy Pillar's Data Discovery Module
I. Navigate to Connections
From the Privacy Pillar dashboard, go to the left-hand menu and click on Connections under the Data Discovery module.
You will be redirected to the Manage Connections page, which displays all existing integrations.

II. Click on Add New Connection
This opens the connection configuration screen where a new database or data source can be registered.

III. Select Database Type, Enter Connection Details and Validate

Choose the relevant connection type from the list of supported databases (for example: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Neon, MongoDB, etc.) and enter the required connection information, including:
These details are used to establish secure communication between the module and the selected database.
After entering the details, click Test Connection to validate network access and authentication.
Successful validation confirms that the tool can securely access the database and retrieve the required metadata.
Once validated and saved, the integrated database can be included in manual or scheduled scans to identify and classify personal and sensitive data.
